Iron Diary is developed by Soleer LLC.
Open Settings → Backup & Import → Export Backup File. This creates a file containing your full training history, exercises, and settings, which you can save to Files, iCloud Drive, or share anywhere. Because Iron Diary stores everything on your device, exporting is the way to keep a backup.
On your old device, export a backup (above). On your new device, open Settings → Import from File and choose that file. Re-importing is safe — workouts that already exist are skipped, so you won’t get duplicates.
No. Iron Diary is local-first: there’s no account and no server for your training data — it lives on your device. Use Export/Import to back up or move it.
Open Create a Program with AI from the Dashboard, Settings, or the Programs screen. In Guided mode, set your plan — days per week, program length, goal, and equipment — then tap Copy Prompt and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, or any AI. Copy the AI’s whole reply, come back, and tap Import from Clipboard under Step 2. After a quick review, the program lands in Programs, ready to start. Your choices are saved for next time.
Prefer to write the request yourself? Switch to Advanced to copy the import format, your exercise library, and your recent workouts separately, then ask the AI in your own words.
If the reply stops partway through, the program was too long for one reply — ask the AI for fewer weeks at a time, keeping the same program title. If Iron Diary says the file has errors, paste those errors back to the AI and ask for a corrected version of the whole program. Still stuck? Email us with the AI’s reply.
Programs is your queue of planned workouts. Import a program as a series and start the next session in one tap. Find it on the Diary screen or under Settings → Programs.
On iOS, open Settings → Apple Health and grant permission. Iron Diary then shows your Apple Health workouts alongside your diary and builds a daily readiness summary from your heart rate variability, resting heart rate, and sleep. Iron Diary only reads this data and never writes to Apple Health. You can revoke access anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Iron Diary.
Each exercise has an input type that matches how it’s measured — for example, a barbell lift uses weight and reps, a row machine uses duration and distance, and a carry uses weight and distance. You can change an exercise’s type by editing it in the Exercise Library.
RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion) is a 1–10 scale for how hard a set felt. Tempo describes the speed of each rep (for example, “3010”). Both are optional — toggle them in Settings → Workout Fields, and tap the ⓘ icons in the app for a full explanation.
Yes. Settings → Unit System lets you choose pounds/kilograms and meters/feet. Your data is stored independently of the display unit, so switching never changes your logged numbers.
Settings → Reset Tutorials replays the intro screen and re-enables the in-context tips.
Your data: never sold, never shared, never used for ads. The only data we receive is anonymous analytics, used to find bugs and improve the app — never your name or email (Iron Diary has no accounts), and never your Apple Health data. Analytics runs on every installation and there is no in-app switch to turn it off; deleting the app stops it. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
