Privacy Policy for Iron Diary

Effective date: 07/04/2026
Last updated: 06/25/2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Iron Diary (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles your information. Iron Diary is developed by Soleer LLC.

The short version: Iron Diary is a local-first app. Your workout data lives on your device — we do not run servers for it, we do not have user accounts, and we never sell your data or use it for advertising. We do collect anonymous usage analytics to understand how the app is used and improve it, and you can turn that off in Settings → Data & Privacy.

Information we collect

Iron Diary has no backend for your workout data and no account system. The information you enter or generate is stored locally on your device, and we — the developer — never receive a copy of it. This local data includes:

This data is stored in an on-device database and is not uploaded anywhere by the app.

Analytics

To understand how Iron Diary is used and to make it better, the app uses a third-party analytics service, PostHog, to collect anonymous usage data. This includes:

We do not collect your name or email (the app has no accounts), we do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising. Your workout database itself is never uploaded — analytics is limited to the usage and diagnostic data described above.

PostHog acts as our data processor and stores this data in its United States cloud. See PostHog's privacy policy at https://posthog.com/privacy.

You can turn analytics off at any time. Go to Settings → Data & Privacy → Anonymous Analytics and switch it off; the app then stops all analytics collection on your device.

Apple Health (HealthKit)

On iOS, Iron Diary can integrate with Apple Health only if you grant permission. When enabled, the app reads:

Health data is read into the app and processed entirely on your device. Iron Diary does not transmit Apple Health data off your device. Iron Diary only reads from Apple Health; it does not write any data back into Apple Health. You can review or revoke Iron Diary's Health permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Iron Diary.

Exercise demonstration videos

Some exercises link to demonstration videos hosted on YouTube. When you choose to play a video, content is loaded from YouTube/Google, and your viewing is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Iron Diary does not control and is not responsible for data practices of YouTube/Google. If you never open an exercise video, no YouTube content is loaded.

Exporting, backups, and sharing

Iron Diary includes features that let you move your own data out of the app, entirely at your initiative:

Data retention and deletion

Because your data is stored only on your device, you control it completely. You can delete individual workouts and exercises in the app. Deleting the app from your device removes its local data. Iron Diary keeps no copy, because we never had one.

Children's privacy

Iron Diary is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The anonymous usage analytics described above are not used to identify any individual.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, noted within the app.
